I woke up a little before 7 am with the words in my mind clear as a bell. I promote happiness. It's a bit early for me to be getting up but felt that these words must mean something really important. Then I thought, this is it! This is the first thing I need to blog about on my new website. I was so excited that I flew out of bed and immediately sat down at the computer to write my first entry. I've watched the computer technology boom up around me for a long time. And clients, colleagues and people I met would always ask me, " do you have a business card, do you have a website? " " I do not ", I would reply and dodge the why nots. Then as I investigated this internally I realized I was looking at all of that as self promoting which felt egotistical, so I was resisting it. As I did many self sessions to clear this old belief (that having cards or a website felt egotistical) I changed my perspective. I began to see it in a new light - I promote happiness, not myself. This felt right on for me and that's when I knew this is how I would launch my website.
I was exposed to the concept of positive thinking and spiritual needs around age 12. I would journal my feelings and read anything I could about spiritual meaning and positive mindset. Looking back on it now I know it's what got me through some tough times in my life. In my late 20's early 30's I was in therapy, went to workshops and read anything I could get my hands on. I would try anything for I was a seeker. I remember hearing people talk about how you have to go through a lot of turmoil, go into the dark night of the soul, or a healing crisis in order to be reborn into salvation. This did not sit well with me. I heard someone say that you can't just have a spiritual bypass. And I thought "why not?" This is when my search went from outside of myself to inside myself. If I was going to find that spiritual bypass it had to be inside myself. In retrospect, I found that in order to get through the dark night of the soul or the things that were happening outside of myself that I was convinced put me there, I had to look within to see why I allowed myself to be so unhappy. No doubt it was the way I perceived myself, how I reacted to my external life and my choice to be unhappy. This lead me to receiving Resonance Repatterning in 1997. RR as we call it, showed me that when I changed my perspective, I could look at myself and the world around me with a feeling of happiness because I was learning something new. Thinking that I was learning something new was somewhat of a positive diversion from focusing on what was wrong in my life, and I began to focus on what was good about my life. I am no different than anyone else in that I have my challenges, my good times and bad. I found my spiritual bypass - which is, I choose to be happy with my present moment because it is bound to change and get better. Always has and always will. In Access Systems they say when you are in a place you don't want to be in, ask yourself, "How could it possibly get better than this? " If you are in a great place in your life ask, "How could it possibly get better than this? " Either way, your attitude is going to be challenged to prove to yourself ( I'll show you ). When you choose to be happy, things in your life look better and from my experience get better. To me happiness is our ability to change our mind. I am a Life-Spotter, I stand behind you, to guide and assist you, as you improve your life. I Promote Happiness. Lauren Johnston O'Connell |
